RULES AND COMMON FAQS REGARDING TRADING PLAYERS & DRAFT PICKS
RULES
1. Not all trades are equal, balanced and fair. Each manager has paid their $100 to manage their team as they see fit. Uneven deals are not a reason to veto the trade. All managers however, may voice their concern to the Commissioner and challenge a trade.
2. Challenged trades are reviewed by a four manager committee, made up of the division winners from the previous season. In the event of a tie vote, Commissioner will serve as tie-breaker.
3. Trades will only be reversed if the committee and Commissioner feels collusion is involved the deal would dramatically change the landscape of the competition.
Examples:
#1: One manager may give up excess value in order to acquire pieces that will help them in their given situation. This trade is not reviewable.
#2: One experienced manager may get the better end of the deal over a novice manager. This trade is not reviewable.
#3: Team A in last place trades away their top 2 star players to Team B (on the verge of making the playoffs) in exchange for 6 bench players. This may be ruled by the committee as collusion. Team A clearly is not benefiting from the deal and giving Team B an unfair advantage potentially knocking out other contenders.
FAQS
Q: How do I make a trade before the draft?
A: The contact info of each manager is available in this forum and on Yahoo's site (when live). You can review each team's spring roster and draft board. All pre-draft trades must be declared and posted in the league thread here (so everyone is aware) and are subject to commissioner approval.
Q: What are the rules for preseason trading players and draft picks?
A: Managers should be allowed flexibility in managing their team the way they want to. Every team gets 22 rounds in the draft.
Rounds 1-6 are reserved for redrafting your keepers. Rounds 7-22 are for filling out your roster using the remaining pool of available players. You can trade player for player(s), player for draft pick, or any combination of the two. Only picks in rounds 7 through 22 are eligible for trading.
Q: Do I have to keep 5 players?
A: NO you only need to keep 3 to 5 players. FLB and NABL have 5 keepers. Managers who elect to keep only 3 players will start drafting in round 4. Picks in round 4, 5 are not eligible for trading to other managers. C2C has 6 keepers. Rounds 1 through 6 cannot be traded.
Q: If I trade for extra draft picks, will I get more players on my team?
A: No, your draft will end early once you've filled your roster of 22.
Q: Can I only trade Keepers? What about the rest of my team?
A: Until the Keeper Declaration deadline, all players on your roster from the prior season still belong to you. After the keeper deadline, all players will be put back into the free agent pool, with the exception of your declared keepers.
Q: What if I change my mind about my keepers after the Keeper Declaration deadline?
A: After the deadline, no adds or drops can be made to your roster. You may however continue to trade picks from round 7-22 up to the day before the draft.
Q: What about a manager who doesn't return? What happens to his players?
A: A new manager will take over the team's roster. That manager will be allowed to trade and pick keepers from his roster.
Q: Who reviews/approves the predraft trades?
A: The Commissioner has final say, but all trades will need to be posted on this proboards site and all teams will have a chance to give feedback to the Commissioner if they feel strongly something isn't fair.
Q: Can I make trades with teams in other leagues?
A: No. Even though FLB, NABL, and C2C teams play with similar scoring format and rosters, trading is limited to teams in your league only.
Q: I wanted to make a last minute trade. Can I work out a deal with another manager to have them draft a player for me during the live draft and then trade the player to me?
A: Up to you. But it can get messy, players get disconnected mid-draft, etc. so 'buyer beware'.
