Yahoo introduced the NA (not active) roster spot this year. The position works identical to the DL spot.
Players with NA or DL status cannot be drafted directly into an NA or DL roster spot. They must be drafted into either a starting or bench position, then moved to the NA roster spot or DL roster spot post-draft.

Understanding the NA roster spot in Fantasy Baseball
This article explains the NA (not active) roster spot in Yahoo Sports Fantasy Baseball, including:
NA (Not Active) eligibility
In order to be placed into the NA position for Yahoo Sports Fantasy Baseball, the player must have NA status in the game.
Timing: Players will be made eligible for the NA position in Yahoo Sports Fantasy Baseball as soon as possible after being deactivated. In most cases, this will occur the morning following the transaction, during our nightly system update.
On game day: A player may be activated by an MLB team on the day of a game. If a Fantasy manager places the player into their active lineup for that day, they will receive scoring for the statistics earned by that player.
How to place a player in an NA roster spot
Private league Commissioners can choose to have up to five (5) NA positions.
Players cannot be added directly from the Available Players list into the NA spot on your roster. They must first be added to your roster. If your roster is full, you will be prompted to drop a player prior to adding them.
When a player receives NA status in the game, it will show as one of their eligible positions.
Classic mode: From the position pulldown menu, select NA | Submit Changes.
Drag and Drop mode:
Click and hold on the player.
Drag him to the NA position and drop
Click Submit Changes.
This will create the NA spot, and you will be able to pick up another player from the Available Players pool without dropping a player.
Note: When you move a player to the NA spot and wish to claim a new player in leagues using Daily - Tomorrow roster moves, make sure that the player has been moved to the NA spot for both today and tomorrow's lineups.
Activating a player from NA
In order to activate a player from the NA spot, your roster must have an opening for an active player.
Please note: If your league uses Daily - Tomorrow roster moves, players dropped to waivers remain active on your roster for the day they are dropped. Consequently, if your roster is full and you drop a player to waivers, an empty roster position is created for the following day, but your roster remains full for the current day. The player in the NA spot can only be activated for the following day's games.
The exception to this would be if you have another player on your roster eligible for the NA spot. If that is the case, you may move the player currently on your Fantasy NA to an active roster position and replace him with another player eligible for the NA spot.
Note: When you move a player out of the NA spot, make sure that they have been removed from the NA spot for both today and tomorrow's lineups.
Stashing players on NA
Once on the NA, a player may stay there for the entire season, even if they return to real-life action. However, once a player is activated by their MLB team, you will not be able to complete any transactions that involve adding a player to your team until you remove them from your team's NA.
You will be able to make intraroster moves (switching players between bench and active), regardless of a player's real-life NA status, as well as drop a player from your roster in order to open up a roster spot to activate the player from the NA.
You can also use your bench spots to house NA players. If you have no available NA or bench positions, or if your league doesn't allow them, you will need to drop the player from your roster if you want to pick up another player.
