Just curious, I think it's been painful for a lot of the managers to narrow down their baseball roster to 3 or 4 guys... especially after you spent the previous year building your team. Of course, too many keepers takes away the fun of the draft.
Anyone want to share their thoughts about how many keepers they'd like to keep for next season?

4 sounds good. Too many keepers takes away from the task of building your team during the seaon. I am geeked about the upcoming season.
Is anyone surprised to hear of Mark Maguires admission of steroid use?

I also think four would be good number of Keepers.
No I am not surprised about Maguire, there was a strong suspicion, and where ther is smoke there is fire. I was amazed how Maguire kept denying that Steriods helped him become a better athlete He kept saying it was for health reason which I don't doubt but Steriods and HGH and other kind of PED help in your Muscle recovery, which enables the body to be able to take more punishment that the norm. I am sure he isn't the last one we will hear about. I wonder who will be next to admit maybe Roger Clemens ?

Clemens will never, ever admit to it. He'd look like the biggest horse's a$$ in the world at this point if he did. He wants the HOF baaaaaad. He'll go down swinging. And Bonds will continue his "never knowingly took them" smugness, regardless of the evidence.

If you are going to put McGwire in the HOF, they you really cannot omit anyone with numbers from the steroid era. THis means Bonds, Clemens, Sosa, or anyone of the sort. Of these individuals, McGwire has by far the worst statistics. Even Sosa beats him in numbers. Therefore, if you put him in, you can't close the door on any of these guys.
Personally, I think he did lie in that interview and I feel he abused the stuff for much if not his entire career. He knew he wasn't a great hitter and that his meal ticket was power. It is very hard to imagine that the most influential baseball personality of the past decade was a man who retired after the year 2000; Jose Canseco. To this point, his words have been the most truthful and paramount thing to cleaning up the game. And yea, he and McGwire definitely shot themselves up in bathroom stalls....lol.
As for keepers, I voted for 4.

I think any player that cheated IN THE GAME OF BASEBALL, regardles if it is a corked bat, drugs or plain ole making deals with pitchers to get certain pitches, NONE of them should ever be in the HOF. Personally, I think its a farce that Big CHEATIN Mac be allowed to coach anything, its a slap to any player that is playing or has played, I mean its like a murderer teaching people how to cope with sucide, it just don't work. I wouldnt want someone that cheated to gain, showing me how to swing a bat or telling me I was wrong and he knew HOW to do it. Sure they all say it was NOT to help my swing, but to help me from an injury. Does this mean, if I get hurt, I can rob a bank to pay bills? or Steal from other people. its all the same when compared. I am glad I'm not a commish now to decide and deal with all that mess, but I would have to think about not letting ANY player in the 90's into the HOF. Maybe letting players in the 80's make the decision on who gets in and who don't. I really feel for some of these guys that played fair and there numbers are just so-so when compared to Bonds or Sosa....I have never liked Conseco, but will have to say, he is atleast been honest and tried to sell everyone else out, now why he did it, is probably wrong, bue he atleast has admitted it. Whew!! make me the next prez, any other place threatens us...nuke em back to the the stone age, they want to crash into our buildings? Take there oil and send 500 rednecks with beer and bullets over there and one week it would be over, all you owe them after is 5 acres of swamp with a cabin and they will fight forever. Damn how hard is it to see!?!

Depending on how many teams. If 14 or more I would do 3 and if less than 14 I would say keep 4.
BTW how many years do you get to keep your players?

In a 20 team league, I'd say 2 to 3 keepers at most. Imagine four keepers in 20 team draft..... that takes the top 80 players off the board from the get go. The draft is not so inspiring in that case.
I play in a 10 team league and we keep 4. That is plenty while keeping the Draft fun. I say 2 or 3 keepers in such a big league.
