This thread has been created to capture ideas and suggestions you would like to see for next year.
Keep things civil obviously. No voting or decisions will be made - this is simply a place to capture ideas, get conversations started, and weigh the pros & cons.

I'm still the new guy and hopefully this is the place to weigh in and the appropriate commentary. 1) I'm in favor of the existing keeper rules which I understand to be keeping 3-5 major league players from season to season and up to 1 minor league prospect. The prospect would count as a last round draft choice. 2) With regard to roster changes, the idea I presented to Robert was to add a 23rd roster position as an RP. This would allow owners generally up to 6 roster slots to chase holds and saves vs. the existing 5.

On the subject of trading, I would like to pitch the option to trade draft picks ahead of the year (season) to come. I feel it’s essential to formulating proper deals when one team doesn’t have enough “talent” on their roster to facilitate a trade with another manager who needs a few pieces to put them in a position to win out. Some trades hit a wall for this reason and the trading of picks to mortgage that future for a shot at a title is a great thing. It would also keep the balance of power in check. Regardless of how others feel, I’ve noticed that the teams in a hole continue to stay in that hole for 3-5 seasons due to not being able to trade draft picks for assets. Whereas in C2C and NABL, there is much flux and change from one team over those same 3-5 seasons due to obtaining draft picks or keeper upgrades (Well, ive only been in NABL for 2 years, but I’ve noticed the trend in C2C).
Keeping the balance of power in tact is essential to keeping the competitiveness in tact. For this reason I would also propose that we revert to only 3-5 keepers and no more. Keeping 8-9 when managers have 6-7 players in the top 30 hurts the balance of power. I always feel whoever wins the league deserves to win it, but not every trade is a masterpiece for both parties. Some are downright awful and lowering the keepers would minimize the risk of that happening and keep all if not most teams competitive. I think that’s what we all want instead of the “tank bowl” that is a necessary evil in order to combat the teams you know you can’t beat based on the hands they’ve been dealt. Your dynasty should be made in the form of the elite 4-5 players you have amassed along with savvy in season moves and not the 8-9 that you have amassed where you can just sit back and let the team go to work. So please lower keepers to 3-5, that’s my vote.

This league is 6 keepers. No NA keeper with last pick. Its 3 to 6 keepers. I like in season pick trading but think 6 keepers is to many. I like 3 keepers and in season pick trading.

With trading picks in the other 2 leagues I require teams to pay the next years dues. It is insurance for the league. If team decides to go all in this year at the expense of next year it will hold them accountable for their actions. If they decide to walk away at end of season( Has never happened) you can find a replacement manager to take over with no cost. Only non keeper picks are tradable.
Suggestions for changes.
1. Change the weekly deadline to today. It would be nice to pick up a player and insert him in line up same day instead of waiting til next day.
2. Take away the 6th keeper and add a prospect keeper to last round of draft. This will add value to prospects who may be a couple years away from making team. To qualify I use 100 at bats and 40 innings pitched at Major league level. This total MLB service not just the previous year. Some players are called up and sent down multiple times until they finally make it.

With 23 roster spots, 2 NA and 5 IL x 20 TEAMS, that's 600 players potentially no longer in the FA pool. It makes it difficult for a struggling team to make any meaningful roster improvements - outside of trading.
Suggestion: Reduce roster size by 1. Meaning instead of 5 bench spots, each team only has 4. That would free up 20 more players that are added back into the available players pool.
