commish, why can't we just back out of deals by Friday say noon time, whether other GM agrees or not. Happens all the time IN THE BIGS.. That wouldn't be fair to the other team. They've moved on and started working out trades with other teams thinking the deal they made was complete. If you back out, it screws the other team over. You can always reverse it IF the other also agrees. No harm no foul.

Two teams agree to a pre-draft trade and announce it to Joe, it's no different than hitting the 'Accept' button once we're live. It's done. Don't put Joe in that spot, dude...

when i offer someone my 3rd round pick in the draft thats exactly what it is, my 3rd rd pick in this draft. I realize we have 4 keepers but still draft picks should be considered rds 1 thru whatever.

20 teams in the league. And one team wants to change the rules at the 11th hour. It's funny, actually. I was just talking you up on a message board the other day. Some goober was boasting about how "active" his league was. Active, you say? Yeah...dude...one guy alone made, I swear, like, TWENTY FOUR trades! (He was talking in total, for the season). I said to him, "We had a guy who made 24 trades last year before the DRAFT even started".

Trade between Greenmonsters and BEERMAKERSFAN1: GM trades their 1st pick in the draft (round 5) to BEERMAKERSFAN1 for Jonathan Papelbon. when i made this deal it was for my 5th pick, really it was but when it was posted it said my first pick, don't get me wrong papelbon is the man but do you see my point?

I think the lesson here is that you need to be very, very clear when talking and communicating about "picks" and "rounds".

>>>when i made this deal it was for my 5th pick, really it was but when it was posted it said my first pick, don't get me wrong papelbon is the man but do you see my point? <<<
My 3 cents. You'd have to look at the exact language of the transaction. I can see how that got twisted. "I'll trade my 5th rounder" could have been taken either way. Did either of you clarify it before the deal was made? How was it reported to the commish? Joe's a pretty straight shooter. He's just posting what you sent him.
You said "when it was posted, it said it was my 5th pick". Are you saying it was posted differently than your agreement. Did your agreement say: Papelbon for my 5th pick in the draft (9th round).
I can empathise a bit. But seems like it's just a matter of looking at the wording. You can't blame Joe for your unclear communication. However, and I think this is what he keeps saying, if BOTH people say, "Hey, commish, there was a mistake. The deal we agreed on was x,y,z" it would be different.
If I had agreed to a 9th rounder, but it was posted as a 5th rounder... I would speak up about it. It would be hard to give up the high pick, but I'd do it.
Otherwise, I'd keep it.
