why can't someone trade a draft pick or picks for players other than the 4 keepers, example i trade 8th rd pick for josh beckett, i lose my eighth pick and select beckett with that pick.

You should lose where ever that guy was picked in the year before. Albert Pujols was the 1st pick so you would lose yr first round pick. I drafted Cargo with pick 115 so i would lose my 7th round. If you keep 2 guys from the same round you lose that round and the following. That's how my other yahoo league works.

We did vote to increase the keepers to 5 for 2012. Personally, I'm all for dynasty leagues. But I think a big part of the fun is the draft and getting a chance to start almost with a clean slate (if you had a really bad year).

We all agreed to the current league format. If someone wants to form a League with all that confusing draft/pick strategies-"have at it", I would consider joining(but not for $$), but what a nightmare for that Commish (unless they're only attending community college and only working part-time!!) I enjoy keeper/dynasty leagues to save some draft time, I do NOT like sitting at the computer for over two hours!! You can still strategize with five-to-ten keepers--its' just sometimes tough to get replacement owners for an already established team. The basis of new Leagues is from what your discussing. I was in an excellent Prospect League years ago, and when I attempted to create another one, I couldn't get enough commited owners--we salvaged the league as a Dynasty league with room for "keeper" prospects. Because I selected Heyward in an early round last year, why should I lose that pick the following year, OR have to throw him back into a draft in his third ,and more PRIME YEAR?!! Lets' keep things as they are in terms of any major changes, and for Joe's sake as well!!
